Trip Generation by Microtrans™, Version 5, software calculates
traffic generation on the basis of the Institute of Transportation Engineers
(ITE) Seventh Edition, Trip Generation Report, 2003. This software
has been used by transportation engineers and planners throughout the world
since 1984 for:
Carl H. Buttke, P.E. was the founding chairman of ITE’s Trip Generation Committee from 1972-1994. It was established to collect and analyze measurements of vehicle trip generation throughout the United States and Canada, a process that continues today. The resulting Trip Generation Report is the most widely used resource for calculating trip generation in the United States. From the original report which included 80 land uses, the Seventh Edition has grown to 158 land uses and 4,150 individual studies. In 1984, Penny and Carl Buttke founded Microtrans, Inc. to develop trip generation software using the ITE data base. Microtrans is a family business: Penny manages the product and Carl provides the technical expertise. As a practicing consulting transportation engineer, Carl wanted easy-to-use software that would allow the user flexibility for project analysis. He has designed and programmed all five versions of Trip Generation by Microtrans. Through the years, the program has expanded to offer new options for more sophisticated analyses, but it still remains easy to use. Version 5 was released in 2003. Trip Generation by Microtrans has been updated with each new edition of the ITE report. Click on demo to run through the program.
